Willingham & Cotè P.C. is very proud to announce Appellate Attorney Ms. Kim Hillock was recently awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC). The MDTC is an association of the leading lawyers in the State of Michigan dedicated to representing individuals and corporations in civil litigation.
Kim was chosen in recognition as her role as the former associate editor of and regular contributor to the Michigan Defense Quarterly. She is also a co-chairperson of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel’s Amicus Committee. In 2014, she drafted an amicus brief on behalf of the MDTC, in Furr v McLeod, sub nom Tyra v Organ Procurement Agency of Michigan, 498 Mich 68; 869 NW2d 213 (2015). In addition to her extensive involvement with the MDTC, she participated in the 2016 Michigan Appellate Bench Bar Planning Committee where she drafted session materials and acted as a moderator for various sessions.
Since joining Willingham & Coté P.C. in 2009, Ms. Hillock has achieved appellate wins for clients more than 50 times in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court in areas such as premises liability, negligence, insurance coverage, no-fault, tax, probate, family law, child custody, and equine liability. She has more than 13 years’ experience in appellate matters.
