This month's "Employee Spotlight" features Associate Attorney Ann Nichols.
What is your role at the firm?
I am a part-time associate, and work behind the scenes supporting the Medical Malpractice team with research and writing.
How long have you been at WC?
Since May 20, 2019.
What is your typical day at the firm?
Three days a week I work in the office from 8-1, dressed up, working at my computer and ready for whatever comes my way. Two days a week I do pretty much the same thing, only from home and in jeans.
What is your favorite part of your role and what aspect is the most challenging?
My favorite thing is the people! I hadn’t worked in law for 15 years when I joined the firm, and I was terrified. Everyone from my boss to our receptionist made me feel valued and welcome. The hardest thing is that I’m constantly being asked to do things I’ve never done…but I think that’s also really one of the best things.
What is one element of your role/the firm that people might not realize?
How very hard everybody works, and how much every employee cares about giving the best to our clients.
Anything else you would like to share?
I live in a 117- year- old house in East Lansing with my husband and a small zoo, and have a 22-year-old son. I have, at various times, been a practicing attorney, classical musician, a professional cook, a writer, and (most recently) a journalist. If I’m not working, I’m reading.
